Shenzhen North Railway Station Transportation

The transportation hub at Shenzhen North Station encompasses a variety of transport facilities, integrating a railway station, long-distance bus terminal, subway station, public bus terminal, taxi stand, and social vehicle parking lot into a cohesive whole.

Metro Transfers

The subway interchange facilities at Shenzhen North Station include the Metro Lines 4, 5, and 6. Metro Line 4 and Metro Line 6 in Shenzhen pass through the east square viaduct of Shenzhen North Station, running almost parallel to the high-speed rail and piercing the station's grand roof structure. Liuxian Avenue and Yulong Road cross over the high-speed rail tracks on viaducts, while Shenzhen Metro Line 5 and the Pingnan Railway traverse the entire station from east to west.

Passengers can conveniently transfer between these lines. For instance, upon exiting the high-speed rail station at Shenzhen North Station, passengers can enter the subway station through exits A1 or A2 and directly board Metro Line 4 or 5.

Bus

Twenty-one bus routes pass through Shenzhen North Station, including Line 4 (Longhua Line), Line 5 (Huanzhong Line), and Line 6 (Guangming Line). Additionally, both the east and west squares of Shenzhen North Station feature bus stations, with six regular bus routes on the ground floor bus station.

Taxi

On the underground level of Shenzhen North Station, there is also a taxi parking lot. Upon arriving at Shenzhen North Station, passengers can descend to the underground level and take a taxi to their destination.

Long-distance Bus

The long-distance bus terminal, Shenzhen North Bus Station, is located on the north side of the west square. The station covers an area of 5076 square meters, with 33 departure and arrival bays and 8 ticket counters. In addition to offering online ticket sales within the station premises, passengers can also purchase tickets through self-service kiosks and online platforms.

Shenzhen North Bus Station provides routes to various destinations including Guangzhou, Huizhou, Heyuan, Shanwei, and Hong Kong (Disneyland, Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, and Hong Kong International Airport).

How to get to the Shenzhen North Railway Station

By Subway

Take the Longhua Line to Shenzhen North Railway Station

It takes about 5 minutes to reach the platform for waiting. When you alight from the Longhua Line at Shenzhen North Railway Station, head towards the rear end of the platform to find the escalator leading downwards. Upon descending to the next level, follow the exit signs indicating directions B and C to reach Shenzhen North Railway Station.

Note: The escalators and vertical elevators at the Longhua Line platform are located near both the front and rear ends, while the stairs are positioned in the middle.

Take the Huanzhong Line to Shenzhen North Station

Go straight to the third floor to access the platform.

Note: The Huanzhong Line concourse is shared with the interchange hall at the North Station hub on the first floor, hence, the exit signs do not use codes like A, B, C, or D; instead, they directly point towards directions to taxis, buses, the train station, and other locations.

By Bus

East Square

The East Square bus station has 17 regular bus routes. Among them:

  • Ground floor bus station has 6 regular bus routes: M572, M567, M341, M352, M130, and Peak 137.
  • Second-floor bus station has 11 regular bus routes: M217, 75, M462, M347, M299, E11, M363, E22, M340, M597, and E7.

West Square

The West Square bus station has 5 regular bus routes: Airport A2, M365, M207, M225, and M353.

The M353 route stops at the Shenzhen Tong Building parking lot below the West Square, while the other 4 routes stop at the emergency parking lot near the bus station at the West Square.

By Taxi

Take a taxi to Shenzhen North Station: The interchange hall has only one level for boarding and alighting.

Note: On the first floor (shared with the Huanzhong Line concourse), taxis can both pick up and drop off passengers; on the second floor, taxis can only pick up passengers; on the third floor (ground level), taxis can only drop off passengers. Some taxis may also stop at the underground level of the West Square.

From Shenzhen North Railway Station to Guangzhou East Railway Station

From Shenzhen North Station to Guangzhou East Station, you can opt for the high-speed rail service C9108, which takes approximately 21 minutes for the entire journey.

From Shenzhen North Railway Station to Hong Kong

To reach Hong Kong from Shenzhen North High-Speed Rail Station, taking the high-speed rail is the quickest way, with a total travel time of about 18-24 minutes. You have several options for traveling from Shenzhen North to Hong Kong:

  • By High-Speed Rail: Directly board a high-speed train from Shenzhen North Station to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station for a convenient and swift journey. The entire trip takes around 18 minutes with a ticket price of 75 CNY. It is recommended to purchase tickets in advance through platforms like the 12306 website or mobile apps. On the day of travel, arrive early at Shenzhen North Station to allow ample time for security checks, ticketing procedures, and embarkation. Upon reaching Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, follow the signage to complete the immigration procedures.
  • By Subway + MTR: Start by taking the Line 4 subway from Shenzhen North Station to Futian Port Station, a journey lasting about 25 minutes. Once at Futian Port, complete the exit procedures through the customs channel to enter Hong Kong territory. Following this, board the MTR at the Lok Ma Chau station on the Hong Kong side to access various regions in Hong Kong. While this option is relatively budget-friendly, it may take longer than the direct high-speed rail route.
  • By Bus: Near Shenzhen North Station, there are cross-border buses departing for Hong Kong from various bus stops such as Huanggang Port and Shenzhen Bay Port. Passengers can then transfer via bus to different destinations in Hong Kong. Bus travel offers affordability and a variety of route options based on individual preferences. However, bus journey times are subject to traffic conditions, and passengers will need to disembark for customs procedures at the border crossings.

From Shenzhen North Railway Station to Guangzhou

Choose the intercity high-speed train, which covers the distance to Guangzhou East Station in approximately 21 minutes. There are several travel options from Shenzhen North Station to Guangzhou:

  • By High-Speed Rail: With numerous daily high-speed train services between Shenzhen North and Guangzhou South stations, the journey takes around 30 minutes, making it a convenient and fast choice. Various trains such as G6202 and G1002 are available at different times to accommodate different passenger schedules. Second-class seats typically cost around 74.5 CNY, first-class seats cost 99.5 CNY, and business-class seats are priced at 199.5 CNY.
  • By EMU Train: Some EMU trains depart from Shenzhen North Station to Guangzhou East and other stations, taking approximately 1 hour, with ticket prices potentially lower than high-speed trains. However, the frequency of EMU trains may be less compared to high-speed options.
  • By Long-distance Bus:There are long-distance coaches available at bus stations near Shenzhen North Station bound for Guangzhou. This mode of transport offers relatively economical fares, yet entails a lengthier travel duration that is heavily influenced by road conditions. Typically, the journey to Guangzhou by coach takes around 3-4 hours to complete.

From Shenzhen North Railway Station to Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport

The journey spans roughly 30 kilometers. Passengers can choose between the Airport Express bus or the subway system. The Airport Express bus takes about 65 minutes, while the subway ride lasts approximately 51 minutes. The subway offers a quicker and more economical transportation choice.

  • By Subway (Line 5 to Line 11): Board Line 5 (Circular Line) at Shenzhen North Station towards Qianhai Bay. After 13 stops, transfer at Qianhai Bay Station to Line 11 (Bitou direction) for a further 3 stations, disembarking at "Airport." The entire trip spans 49 minutes over a total distance of 33.3 kilometers.
  • By Airport Express Bus: Line A2 of the Shenzhen Airport Express bus shuttles between Shenzhen North Bus Terminal and the airport's new terminal building. Operating hours are from 09:00 to 02:00 towards Longhua and 04:00 to 21:00 towards the airport, with peak frequency every 30 minutes during rush hours and every 60 minutes during non-peak times. The fare is 25 CNY, and the terminal is approximately a 5-10 minute walk from Shenzhen North Bus Terminal.
  • By Taxi/Rideshare: Depending on traffic conditions, taking a taxi from Shenzhen North to the airport typically takes around 40 minutes. However, delays may occur in case of congestion. Fare-wise, the cost usually ranges between 100-150 CNY.
  • By Bus: Bus route 330C operates from Shenzhen North Railway Station to Shenzhen Airport. The service runs from 20:00 to 24:00 at Shenzhen North and from 23:00 to 02:00 at Shenzhen Airport. The fare is a flat rate of 24 CNY, but travel times can be longer and susceptible to traffic fluctuations.

From Shenzhen North Station to Futian Checkpoint

Board Subway Line 4 (Longhua Line) at Shenzhen North Railway Station and travel 9 stations to reach Futian Checkpoint station. The whole journey takes around 27 minutes, with a ticket price of 4 CNY.
